Michael C. Ruppert was born 1951 in Washington, D.C. His family background is characterized by close proximity to the intelligence and military milieu. At the University of California in Los Angeles Ruppert studied political science. After graduation he went to the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD), to work as a narcotics agent. In the course of his career he came in touch with the illegal drug trade activities of the CIA. Since he refused to participate in such matters, he had to leave the LAPD. Dr. Daniele Ganser, born 1972 in Lugano, is a historian at the University of Basel, peace researcher and author. From 2003 to 2006 Ganser was employed at the Center for Security Studies, ETH Zurich. Since 2006 Ganser teaches at the History Department of the University of Basel, where he is also the director of a research project on the peak oil issue and global war over oil. He is also a founding member of the Association for the Study of Peak Oil and Gas (ASPO) in Switzerland.
